How to Use Double Up During SNAP Disruptions
We know this is a hard moment. With SNAP benefits on pause this November in Michigan and other states, we want you to know: Double Up Food Bucks is still here to help you stretch your food dollars.
Here’s what you need to know:
What’s Happening With SNAP
Due to a pause in federal funding, no new SNAP benefits will be added to EBT cards in November.
But if you still have SNAP funds on your card, you can use them — and you can still earn and spend Double Up Food Bucks.
What’s changing with Double Up
Effective immediately, and until December 31, 2025:
Earned Double Up won’t expire.
Any rewards you’ve already earned — tokens, coupons, or earnings on your Double Up card — are still good. Use them when you need them.
Daily matches go from $20 a day to unlimited.
That’s right. If you’re using SNAP at a participating store, farm stand, or market, there is no monetary limit to how much you can match in Double Up per day for more fruits and veggies.
Frozen fruits & veggies are now eligible.
You can now earn and spend Double Up on frozen produce with no added salt, sugar, or oil — available statewide. This makes shopping a little easier, especially as farmers markets wind down for the season.
Where to use Double Up
Many farmers markets are wrapping up for the year, but Double Up is available year-round at select grocery stores, farm stands, and markets.
