Championing Rural Food Access: Rep. Tom Kunse

State Representative Tom Kunse serves Michigan’s 100th District, representing Mecosta, Osceola, and parts of Lake and Clare counties. First elected to the House in 2022, he brings a strong focus on agriculture, workforce development, and infrastructure. These priorities closely connect to improving access to local, fresh, healthy food across rural Michigan communities. Representative Tom Kunse played a critical role in bringing Double Up to our newest grocery partner: Witbecks Family Foods in downtown Clare.

As a supporter of Double Up Food Bucks, Rep. Kunse understands how nutrition incentives can benefit both local families and farmers. By helping households stretch their grocery dollars while supporting Michigan-grown produce, programs like Double Up have an important role in strengthening local economies.

Rep. Kunse’s background as a business owner and his service on key legislative committees reflect his commitment to practical solutions. Outside of his service in Lansing, he stays active in his community as a youth sports coach, math tutor, and volunteer. His leadership highlights a dedication to helping Michigan communities thrive.
